SMILAX ASPERA.

Smilax ornata is a perennial trailing vine with prickly stems that is native to Mexico and Central America. Common names include sarsaparilla, Honduran sarsaparilla, and Jamaican sarsaparilla.

It is known in Spanish as zarzaparrilla, which is derived from the words zarza meaning "bramble" (from Basque sartzia "bramble"), and parrilla, meaning "little grape vine".

Sarsaparilla is a medicinal plant of the Smilax aspera species, rich in flavonoids and saponins that give it anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, diuretic and depurative properties, which is why it is popularly used as a home remedy to aid in the treatment of gout, rheumatism or arthritis, for example. The most commonly used part of sarsaparilla is the root, from which substances with medicinal properties are extracted. Sarsaparilla has anti-inflammatory,

diuretic, aphrodisiac, depurative, stimulating and toning properties and is normally indicated for:
